Upon arrival in Lake Atitlán, the local handcrafted artisan work attracts each and every eye. One of many things Mayans are rightly proud of is their artisan work which is sold in many forms worldwide.

For some Guatemalan business owners, this line of work is an unreliable source of income, as it ebbs and flows with tourism. During the low season, many are forced to find alternative sources of income, including harvesting coffee, driving tuk tuks (a form of transportation comparable to a taxi), and collecting firewood, while others remain unemployed.

Atitlán Leather was founded in attempt to alleviate the vulnerability these workers experience by working with a family of artisans and facilitating the distribution of these unmatched leather products. To this end, Atitlán Leather unites these unique Mayan products with the large market demand for original and quality leather goods.
