Andermatt Biocontrol UK has a premium portfolio of fungicides, biological insecticides and fertilizers suitable for both organic and integrated growing systems.

Our products deal with pest control for professional horticulture, agriculture and beekeeping such as the sciarid fly, vine weevil, spotted wing drosophila (SWD) and varroa mite for bees. We also make traps for monitoring and controlling moth populations, such as the box tree moth, codling moth, and plum moth.

We target pests that eat a wide range of fruits from apples, strawberries, pears, plums and grapes.

Our products are biological instead of chemical, using the power of nature with carefully-developed natural substances like pheromones, nematodes and other organic matter for pest and disease control.

Biological pest control is totally harmless to humans, children, pets and the environment. They only kill the targeted pest, rather than a ton of friendly wildlife as well, and are resistance-free, a big problem with chemical pesticides.

In 1988, Andermatt’s first product, Madex, worked against codling moth, and was the first product worldwide based on a granulovirus. Since then the company has developed to become one of the leading biological plant protection companies worldwide.

Historically the use of biological control, such as the application of baculoviruses against insect pests, was seen to be a method only for use in organic production. Opinion has since changed. It is now widely recognized that the use of biological control measures such as baculoviruses, offer a highly effective tool within IPM (Integrated Pest Management) programs. Today driven by a desire for more environmentally sensitive pest control, increasing regulatory restrictions on synthetic chemistry and a greater understanding on how to improve reliability of performance from biological products, biological control is being used in the complete spectrum of production systems from organic to what would have historically been conventional agriculture.
