A timeless tale, Retold!

Nestled on the hilltop of an old Jordanian village and enclosed within the stone walls of an ancient settlement is Kan Zamaan—Arabic for once upon a time.

Kan Zamaan was once the focal point of Khirbet Abu Jaber, an isolated rural area developed by merchant brothers for farming and ranching. The impressive 19th century estate—dating back to Ottoman rule—served as an agricultural warehouse and a horse barn before succumbing to ruin.

The heritage estate’s 21st century renovation into a restaurant incorporates this golden past into the modern, perfectly balancing the old and new.

Today, Kan Zamaan is a distinguished venue that offers unique, authentic Oriental and local cuisine garnished with forgotten traditional flavors to delight local food lovers.

The stable transformed into an elegant dining room, Bustan Kan Zaman (the garden), its stunning breezy patio overlooking the peaceful Al Yadoodeh greenery, and Bread & Salt, a bakery with homemade, preserved items from our pantry, offered fresh every day on its shelves.

Oriental and local cuisine, authentic flavors and expertly made food, art and music and culture: all find their home within the ancient walls of Kan Zamaan.

حكاية تُروى من جديد

بجدرانه الحجرية العتيقة يقع صرح كان زمان على قمة تلة أردنية قديمة حيث بدأ مشواره كنقطة محورية في خربة أبو جابر التي أنشأها أخوين محليين لتكون منطقة منعزلة للزراعة وتربية المواشي. يعود إنشاؤه إلى أيام العثمانيين في القرن 19 حيث كان هذا الصرح مستودعاً للمنتجات الزراعية واسطبلاً للجياد قبل أن يمحيه التاريخ.

تم ترميم وإعادة إحياء هذا المبنى التراثي في القرن 21 وتحويله إلى مطعم ليبقى تذكاراً لماضيه الخالد حيث يلتقي الحديث بالقديم في تناغم مثالي مفتخراً بحلّته الجديدة وتميّزه بالمأكولات الشرقية والمحلية الأصيلة والمعدة بنكهات تقليدية أعاد إحياءها من جديد.

ثلاثة أجزاء بارزة يتألف منها مطعم كان زمان وهي: صالة المطعم الأنيقة التي كانت اسطبلاً في قديم الزمان، بستان كان زمان بباحته الجميلة المطلة على منطقة اليادودة الخضراء، ومخبز خبز وملح الذي يوفر المخبوزات الطازجة اليومية فضلاً عن أشهى مختارات المونة الأردنية المحفوظة على رفوفه.

يروي مطعم كان زمان أكثر من قصة بروح واحدة، حيث يجمع داخل أسواره العتيقة كلاً من المطبخ الشرقي العريق والنكهات المحلية والمونة الأردنية والفن والموسيقى والتراث. مع مطعم كان زمان سوف تستمتعون اليوم بتذوّق حكاية الأمس.
