Beit Wadih is a Lebanese guest house owned and operated by a family dedicated to lovingly share with its guests, an exclusive “art de vivre” in an outstanding property built in the fifties, and conserving a true and authentic character.

The Property:
Built in the 1950’s by Mr. Wadih Haddad, a passionate well known architect, to be his permanent residence. It is located in Ghazir, one of the most reputable Lebanese traditional villages situated in the center of Foutouh Keserwan – Mount Lebanon.
The property is formed of a 3 floor Villa surrounded by a splendid garden planted with huge Pine trees and embraced by a rich combination of flowers, roses and other plant groupings which will leave you with a memorable outdoor experience. The property enjoys a panoramic view over the bay of Jounieh. The villa itself strongly speaks out a typical fifties architectural character which closely correlates with Lebanon’s golden era of construction. The villa’s structure is made of bearing walls and arches; all made of thick Natural yellow stones reinforced by an internal layer of concrete, one of the best construction techniques that defies ages.
Currently, the property is under renovation and will be transformed into an operational guesthouse by June 2015. Our main objective throughout the whole renovation process is to preserve the fifties’ character with a very careful attention to the details of the villa, in order to offer our guests an authentic and extremely pleasant stay. A twist of modern touch is being added to ensure a comfortable and relaxing experience for each and every guest.
The triplex villa will have a total of nine bedrooms with private bathrooms and terraces. All guests will have access to a lounge/reception area with terraces, Kitchen, Chimney, bar and of course a beautiful garden.

The Owner:
Wadih Haddad (1923-1992) was an Architect OEA number 220. He graduated in the 1940’s and made a reputable career during Lebanon’s golden construction age in the fifties and sixties. He was known for his dedication to his work, at several occasions he used to continue his office works in his house, where one room was transformed into an office for additional late hours work.
Actually, Beit Wadih is managed by members of his family and the Guest house holds his name as a tribute to a great Architect, husband, father, uncle and friend.

The Village:
Ghazir is a traditional Lebanese village located in the heart of Keserwan, with a proximity to the old Byblos city and the beach. Ghazir has been inhabited since prehistoric times; two caves were found in the Roman Bridge vicinity, yielded flint stones, whereas, bones and pottery dating from the Paléolithique period. In 1711, the Chehab, governors of the Mount Lebanon, Came and settled down in Ghazir, where they have governed from. In 1804 Prince Hassan Chehab began the construction of his palace a qayssariya and a souk for regional trades. Until the end of XIXth century Ghazir was a political and economic center, thus, several typical XIXth century triple arches houses were built. In 1905 a new serial was built by Mouzaffar Bacha, the Ottoman Moutassaref of Mount Lebanon. Thanks to the efforts of Ghazir Municipality the village is actually regaining its position as a main hub.

Beit Wadih est une maison d’hôtes libanaise dotée d’une gérance familière et particulière. La famille partage avec ses invitées un traditionnel “art de vivre” dans une propriété datant des années cinquante, qui conserve authenticité et caractère unique.

La Maison:
Beit Wadih, une villa qui date des années 50, construite par l’Architecte Wadih Haddad comme résidence permanente. Située à Ghazir, un village traditionnel, au centre du Foutouh Keserwan au Mont-Liban.
La villa et le jardin surplombent la baie de Jounieh et bénéficient d’une vue panoramique inégale. Des pins parasols géants marquent l’entourage de la villa. Le caractère Architectural, typique années 50, appartient à l’époque d’or de construction au Liban. La structure mixte (Pierre du coté extérieur et chemise intérieure en béton) est entièrement composée de murs porteurs et arcs ; un système constructif qui défie le temps.
Actuellement la villa est en cours de restauration, pour se transformer en maison d’hôtes. Elle sera opérationnelle en Juin 2015. L’objectif principal sera de conserver le caractère des années 50 pour offrir aux visiteurs un séjour particulier. Une touche de modernité offrira une valeur ajoutée au confort des visiteurs.
La villa s’étale sur trois étages ; 9 chambres à couche avec toilettes et Terrace privées s’y trouvent. Au rez-de-chaussée un espace de réception est formé de trois salons et servi par une cuisine, terrasses, coin cheminée, bar et jardin,,,

Propriétaire :
Wadih Haddad (1923-1992) était un Architecte numéro OEA 220. Diplômé dans les années 40. Il a fait sa carrière durant l’époque d’or de construction au Liban (1950’s-1960’s). Il était connu pour son dévouement au travail. Une chambre de sa maison a été transformée en bureau ou il passait, presque chaque soir, des heures de travail supplémentaires.
Actuellement, Beit Wadih est géré par sa famille, et le nom de la maison d’hôtes a été choisi en honneur d’un grand Architecte, époux, papa, oncle et ami.

Le village :
Ghazir est un village traditionnel du Foutouh Keserwan. Habité depuis l’époque préhistorique où deux caves à l’entourage du Pont Romain témoignent d’une activité humaine qui remonte à l’époque Paléolilithique. En 1711, la famille Chéhab gouverne le Mont Liban en se basant à Ghazir. En 1804, le prince Hassan Chéhab commence la construction d’un palais, une quayssaria et un souk pour le commerce régional. Vers la fin du XIX siècle, Ghazir était un centre éco-politique très important, et c’est d’ailleurs durant cette époque que plusieurs maisons traditionnelles à cour centrale et triple arcades ont été construites. En 1905 un nouveau sérail a été bâti par Mzaffar Bacha le Moutassaref Ottoman du Mont-Liban. Actuellement, des projets de conservation du tissu rural traditionnel, géré par l’autorité locale, sont en cours. C’est grâce aux efforts de la Municipalité de Ghazir que le village se resitue comme une attraction principale du Mont- Liban.

بيت وديع هو بيت ضيافة لبناني بادارة عائلية مميزة. تهدف العائلة أن تتشارك مع ضيوفها "فن العيش" في اطار المحافظة على الطابع المعماري اللبناني التقليدي الذي يعود الى خمسينيات القرن الماضي.

البيت:
بيت وديع هو فيللا بناها و سكنها المهندس المعماري وديع حداد في خمسينيات القرن الماضي. تقع الفيللا في بلدة غزير التراثية اللتي تتموضع في وسط فتوح كسروان في قلب جبل لبنان.
الفيللا و حديقتها مطلتان على خليج جونيه و تتمتعان بمناظر بانورامية خلابة. أشجار الصنوبر العملاقة تظلل الموقع و تضفي على المكان جواً مميزاً و رائحة ذكية. الطابع المعماري للفيللا خاص بخمسينيات القرن الماضي اللذي عرف بالعصر الذهبي للانماء في لبنان. يتألف الهيكل الانشائي من جدران و قناطر حجرية ظاهرة من الخارج مدعمّة من الداخل بقميص من الخرسانة ليشكل نموذجاً انشائياً مميزاً يتحدى عوامل الزمن.
يتم حالياً ترميم الفيللا لتحويلها الى بيت ضيافة من المقرر افتتاحه في حزيران من العام 2015 ان شاء الله. يتمحور الهدف الأساسي حول المحافظة على الطابع المعماري الموجود و الخاص بحقبة الخمسينيات وذلك بهدف تأمين اقامة مميزة للزوار. و للحداثة أيضاً مكانها في المشروع، حيث أن كافة التسهيلات و متطلبات العصر مؤمنة لخدمة و راحة الزوار.
تتألف الفيللا من ثلاث طوابق تتوزع فيها تسع غرف نوم مجهزة بحمامات حديثة و تيراسات خاصة. الطابق الأرضي مخصص للمساحات المشتركة من صالونات، مطبخ، مدفأة، بار لجميع أنواع المشروبات، تيراسات و حديقة ...

مواصفات الغرف:
غرف مزدوجة (مع امكانية اضافة سرير ثالث حسب الطلب)، تحتوي على حمام خاص و حديث، شوفاج، مكيّف، تلفزيون، انترنت، تيراس مطل على البحر كما تشمل الاقامة فطوراً لبنانياً مميزاً.

المالك:
المهندس وديع حداد حصل على دبلوم في الهندسة المعمارية منذ أربعينيات القرن الماضي، رقمه في نقابة المهندسين220 . كان ناشطاً في فترة الانماء الذهبية في لبنان (1950-1960). كان يعرف بحبه و اندفاعه لعمله لدرجة أنه حول غرفة من بيته لمكتب يقضي فيه كل مساء بضع ساعاتٍ من العمل، و ذلك بعد عودته من مكتبه الأساسي في بيروت.
حالياً تدير عائلة وديع البيت الذي يحمل اسمه تكريماً للمهندس، الزوج، الأب، العم و الصديق المميز.

البلدة:
غزير بلدة لبنانية عريقة بتقاليدها و نسيجها المعماري التراثي. ف1711ي حكمت عائلة شهاب جبل لبنان و اتخذت من غزير أحد مقار اقامتها. في 1804 بدء الأمير حسن شهاب بناء قصره في غزير و أشاد بقربه قيصرية و سوق مميز للتجارة. في أواخر القرن التاسع عشر تحولت غزير الى مركز سياسي و اقتصادي مهم جداً، وبدأ النسيج المعماري يتطور ليواكب الموقع المتميز للبلدة، حيث بنيت الحارات الواسعة ذي القناطر و الزخارف المتعددة. في 1905 بنى مظفّر باشا، المتصرف العثماني في جبل لبنان حينها، سرايا جديدة لا تزال حتى الآن مقراً لبلدية غزير.
تولي حالياً بلدية غزير اهتماماً بالغاً بالنسيج المعماري التراثي للبلدة. و يقوم المجلس البلدي و على رأسه الدكتور ابراهيم الحداد بجهود كبيرة جعلت من غزير عاصمة متطورة لفتوح كسروان و ملتقى سياحي، ثقافي و تجاري بارز.
