「エボナイト」
ゴムの木の樹液から取れる天然ゴムと硫黄を混合加熱することによって出来る硬質ゴム素材。
古くから様々な用途で利用され、今ではほとんどの分野で安価なプラスチックにとって代わられてしまいましたが、今なお万年筆や木管楽器のマウスピース、喫煙具の吸い口等に使われています。

日興エボナイト製造所は国内唯一エボナイト素材を製造する工場です。

材料だけでなく、下町の伝統技術とのコラボによる「オリジナル万年筆」のオーダー生産も始めました。

"Ebonite"
NIKKO's ebonite, the hard rubber, is material made by natural rubber which is made from sap of a rubber tree. Vulcanized natural rubber is very hard and the color is blackish brown.

Although it is used for uses various for many years and now being replaced for a cheap plastic in almost all fields, it is still used in the specific fields, fountain pens, mouthpiece of woodwind instruments, mouthpiece of pipes for smoking and etc.
Of course, ebonite is durable in the water, and good for insulator. Industrial machine makers ask for the parts of such uses with ebonite every year.
Nikko Ebonite mfg.co.,ltd. is the only company which manufactures ebonite materials in Japan.
