General information

The ETU has about 1100 members including 130 professors, 170 Doctors of Science. More than 700 of the teachers has a PhD degree. About 30 members of the Russian and foreign Academies of science are working at the University. ETU is proud of Prof. Z. Alferov who won the Nobel Prize in 2000.
Saint Petersburg State Electrotechnical University provides education in 13 areas and 32 specialties. The University is comprised of 7 schools:
- School of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications
- School of Electronics
- School of Computer and Information Technologies
- School of Electrical Engineering and Industrial Automation
- School of Instrumentation, Biomedical and Ecological Engineering
- Scholl of Economics and Management
- School of Humanities
Top-notch fundamental and applied research of a broad spectrum is conducted at the University departments as well as at research centers and R&D institutes. The research staff includes more than 1000 members.
ETU has agreements on cooperation with more than 30 universities in the United states, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Finland, the United Kingdom, France, China, Vietnam and other countries. Cooperation agreements include students and teachers exchnge, joint development of educational programs, joint scientific projects.
More than 500 students from Europe, Asia, Africa study at ETU annually. Pre-university training is organized at ETU for international students.
The University has close relations with the world known companies such as Motorola, Intel, Microsoft, AMD, Analog Devices, Parsytec, Infineon and others.Jointly with these companies, ETU established educational and research centers equipped with up-to-date facilities. Such links alsoserve the process of attracting young talanted people to scientific research and exploring modern technologies.
