Funciones

a) Coleccionar, conservar y proteger todas las películas referentes al arte cinematográfico y a su historia; reunir todos los documentos relativos a este arte, con fines estrictamente no comerciales sino artísticos, historiográficos, pedagógicos, de documentación y de educación.

b) Adquirir, estimular, crear, proyectar y difundir cualquier documento cinematográfico referentes a actividades generales de la cultura.

c) Procurar, dentro del marco de las leyes vigentes sobre la propiedad artística e intelectual, la difusión del arte cinematográfico a través de ciclos de exposiciones, cursillos, conferencias, publicaciones, grabaciones y programas de televisión.

d) Buscar la solidaridad internacional de sus finalidades mediante los acuerdos e intercambios de instituciones similares.

e) Contribuir mediante la exhibición de filmes, a la formación de cineastas en las escuelas de cine, talleres de filmación y otros centros culturales, contribuyendo a actualizar el personal académico.

f) Realizar las investigaciones necesarias para un mayor conocimiento del cine en sus aspectos sociales, históricos, políticos, estéticos y técnicos. g) Con las exhibiciones, cursos, exposiciones, investigaciones y publicaciones, procurar la formación de un público participante, preocupado por la problemática social, política y cultural de México y el resto del mundo, con discusiones críticas e ideológicas de definición ante el hecho cinematográfico.

Functions:

a) To collect, preserve and protect all the movies concerning to the cinematographic art and its history; to assemble all the documents relative to this art for artistic purposes without commercial intent.

b) To acquire, promote, create, design and distribute any document general activities relating to film culture.

c) Ensure, within the framework of existing laws on intellectual and artistic property, the dissemination of film art through cycles of exhibitions, workshops, conferences, publications, recordings and television programs.

d) Find the international solidarity of its aims through exchange agreements and similar institutions.

e) Contribute, through the exhibition of films, the formation of filmmakers in film schools, film workshops and other cultural centers, helping to upgrade the academic staff.

f) Conduct the necessary research to a better understanding of cinema in its social, historical, political, aesthetic and technical.

g) With exhibitions, seminars, research and publications, seek the formation of a participating public concerned about the social, political and cultural life of Mexico and the rest of the world, with critical discussions and ideological definition film to the fact .
