Die Städtischen Bühnen Frankfurt sind der größte kommunale Theaterbetrieb in Deutschland. Sie wurden 2004 in die Rechtsform einer GmbH überführt (alleiniger Gesellschafter ist die Stadt Frankfurt am Main) und bestehen aus zwei künstlerischen Sparten: der Oper und dem Schauspiel.
Intendant der Oper ist seit 2002 Bernd Loebe, Intendant des Schauspiels ist seit der Spielzeit 2009/2010 Oliver Reese. Geschäftsführender Intendant ist seit 01.02.2002 Bernd Fülle. Gemeinsam bilden sie die Geschäftsführung der Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt am Main GmbH.
