Das Klinikum Dortmund ist das größte Krankenhaus in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Als Haus der Maximalversorgung bietet das Klinikum Dortmund mit 1.559 Betten (1024 Betten im Klinikzentrum Mitte und 535 Betten im Klinikzentrum Nord) medizinische Spitzenleistung, die von 3.900 Mitarbeitern (davon 490 Ärzte und 1.250 Pflegekräfte) geleistet wird. Dabei kommen fast 30% der jährlich mehr als 220.000 Patientinnen und Patienten (56.650 stationär, 166.200 ambulant) aus der Region und dem gesamten Bundesgebiet. Mit 24 Kliniken und Instituten bietet das Klinikum Dortmund Spitzenmedizin aller Fachrichtungen mit Ausnahme der Psychiatrie. Mit 510 Ausbildungsplätzen ist das Klinikum Dortmund der größte Ausbildungsbetrieb in der Region. Das Erlösbudget liegt über 260 Millionen Euro. Das Klinikum Dortmund ist zu 100 Prozent in kommunaler Trägerschaft.
