Elgaard Architecture is a Copenhagen based studio operating within the field of historic buildings and environments.

At Elgaard Architecture we create modern, long-lasting solutions based on traditional methods and in-depth knowledge of the built heritage in our cities and landscape. We bring new life into historic places through innovative use of design, sustainable approaches and technology.

Our proactive and analytical approach goes beyond conservation and repair. Our projects solve some of the contemporary challenges of transforming existing buildings or city complexes of all scales into modern and living architecture while preserving their authenticity and creating genuine amenity that add new layers of meaning and quality to the existing structures. This approach has made us trusted advisors and partners to a diverse range of clients, from large land- and property owners as well as companies and institutions to small charities and homeowners.

We work in an interdisciplinary field and combine knowledge from a large group of professionals who share our passion for using our understanding of the past to revitalise historic buildings and enable new interventions. Built heritage is not seen as unchanging, but as an evolving part of our identity, an inspiration for new design and a catalyst for regeneration.

Rooted in Nordic the Danish and Nordic design and architectural tradition we work in numerous countries in Europe and the Middle East.
