Welcome to Step-By-Step Counselling...

Hi, I'm Jen Brown, a professional Person-Centred and Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist and Holistic Therapist, holding a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and qualifications in Holistic Therapies.

I have been a therapist at Castle Clinic, Bridgnorth, since 2009 and have built a thriving private practice, with clients often contacting me on recommendation of my services. I have extensive experience working with both Adults, Adolescents, Couples and Families, am employed as a School Counsellor and offer private Counselling/Psychotherapy and holistic therapies from my confidential therapy room in Bridgnorth.

I offer 1 and 2 hour sessions, bespoke to your individual requirements and work flexible hours, with both daytime, evening and weekend appointments. I work closely with local GP Practices, receiving regular referrals, and accommodate private healthcare referrals. I also offer bespoke corporate packages to organisations and businesses and provide Supervision to other Counsellors/Training Student Counsellors.

Person-Centred/Integrative Counselling/Psychotherapy, provides a safe space for you to be understood, respected, and listened to empathically without judgement. Through exploring your issues and feelings, you can begin to better understand yourself and identify areas to change and strengthen. Step by step, you will work through those areas, be given strategies, methods to use and explore different approaches, to help you make lasting changes and improve your overall well-being.

I offer a range of Integrative and Holistic Therapies and strategies; Person-Centred/Humanistic Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, TA, Psychodynamic, Meditation/Relaxation Techniques, Reiki and Crystal Healing etc, each session is bespoke, tailored to your needs at the time.

Areas of Speciality:

Qualifications, Memberships & Quality Assurance:
I am a Registered Member of BACP (British Association For Counselling and Psychotherapy), am CRB/DBS checked and hold full Indemnity Insurance. I am also a BUPA (MHW) Registered Therapist and a member of UKRF and CNHC - giving you peace of mind of a professional and ethical service.

To be a member of these professional bodies, therapists have had to meet very high standards and are bound by the BACP ethical framework and code which safeguards and protects both the client and the Counsellor.

In line with my professional Code of Practice, I receive excellent supervision on a monthly basis, to discuss my work to ensure best practice; thus ensuring ethical and professional standards are maintained in accordance with BACP Ethical Framework and regulations. The identity of all my clients remains confidential throughout the supervision process. I also undertake continued professional development (CPD) to develop new skills to further benefit clients and maintain my BACP Registered Membership status.

Work issues?
Bullying or friendship issues?
Low self-esteem or low self-confidence?

If you are experiencing any of these difficulties, this is exactly the time when Person-Centred/Integrative Therapy/Counselling and Holistic Therapy can help.

So What's Involved?
Your initial session will form our introduction, contract and assessment, where both parties will decide whether this form of therapy is right for you. During this initial session, you will of course have opportunity to explore presenting issues and be given opportunity to reflect on areas to focus and be given suggestions on a way forward for you.

The therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is paramount, so I am always guided by whether you feel you wish to continue therapy with me, if needed. Any subsequent sessions are generally 1 hour, but can sometimes be longer if required, and each session is tailored to your needs at the time. At the end of each session you will be asked if you wish to continue with your therapy journey. You are an individual and will be treated and respected as that - there are no limits to the number of sessions required or indeed an ‘average’ number needed - your therapy is as individual as you are. I work at your pace, but am also mindful of achieving as much as possible in all our sessions.

Person-Centred/Integrative Therapy offers a safe environment where you can explore yourself and life’s issues without fear of rejection or judgment. In time, you will begin to understand yourself, your strengths and weaknesses and identify how you can move forward and make changes to enhance your life and individual experience. Adapting your coping strategies, learning new skills, understanding what is in your control and how to let go of what is not working for you can simply transform the way you look at and handle situations - which can ultimately change your life.
