General information

At The Wimbledon Village Osteopath we understand that every patient is unique, and so are the reasons for seeking osteopathic treatment. We tailor-make each treatment to suit the individual patient, and treatment is only carried out after a thorough assessment and diagnosis of the problem has been made.

Initial appointments last up to an hour long and include a detailed medical case history, examination, diagnosis, manual treatment and advice. You will be asked to perform some simple movements to assess the mobility of your body.
If necessary, neurological, orthopaedic and other medical tests will be performed. Osteopathic treatment uses a variety of techniques to improve your function (movement) and decrease your pain. These techniques may include working on muscles, ligaments, joints and fascia. You may also be given advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Follow-up treatments are 45 minutes long, and involve a brief discussion of how your symptoms have progressed, a physical examination, and treatment.
