Thank you for choosing Black Horse Box Hire, we really hope you and your horse or pony have a wonderful day using our box!

All self drive hirers and passengers will be required to fill out a hirer’s questionnaire which needs to be completed and returned prior to hire. It can be printed and posted back to us or a scanned/Smartphone photo can be taken and emailed back to us but we will require the original copy on collection of the box. We can only hire to customers aged 25 and over - customers aged 23 & 24 can hire the box but an additional fee will apply for our insurance cover.

We also require a code to allow us to check your driving license for points and convictions - this information will only be used should our insurance company or police request it.

Please send this back within three weeks of your hire date along with your driving license number to avoid delays and problems when hiring our box.

If we are transporting your horse or pony for you the questionnaire and drivers code is not required.

A 25% deposit will be taken to secure your booking and the balance is due no later than 14 days before the date of hire. Please note the deposit/balance is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled 14 days prior to the booking. Cancellations after this time will incur a deduction of 10% of the balance paid per day upto 4 days before - after this time the deposit and balance is non refundable. This applies to both self drive customers and those requiring transport. Please note the 25% deposit to secure your booking is non refundable within the 14 day window and daily deductions are made from the remainder of the balance.

We are fully insured should any problems arise but do need to take a £150 damage deposit - this is fully refundable on return of the vehicle providing it is returned in the same condition it left. This includes no external damage to the vehicle and no internal damage caused by your horse or pony. Should any significant damage occur that results in the vehicle being taken off the road for repair or permanent loss of use an additional £350 is payable to cover the insurance excess. For customers using us for transport no damage deposit will be taken, however if your horse or pony damages the box then the above charges will apply.

Your horse or pony is your responsibility at all times. We will not accept liability for any injuries sustained whilst travelling in our horsebox if the injury has been caused by the behaviour of the animal.

We will endeavour to help or load your horse or pony for you should you not feel happy or confident doing so. However if your horse or pony is not used to travelling and will not load or is too unsettled and stressed to travel then will are not prepared to risk the safety of your animal or risk damage to our vehicle. Full charges will still apply.

We will walk around the vehicle with you on the day of collection to make sure you are happy with the current condition of the box.

£30 will be deducted from the deposit of self drive customers should the box be returned dirty inside (e.g. food, spillages, excess mud & dirt in the cab and hay, droppings etc in the box) There is a dustpan and brush and big bottle of disinfectant under the seat in the rear of the box for your convenience.

The damage deposit can be paid in cash or card on the day or by bank transfer/paypal prior to collection.

Please also have a look in the folder in the front of the cab. This contains business cards, leaflets and vouchers from some of the local companies we are proud to associate ourselves with.

If you plan on leaving your car, please note, it will be left totally at your own risk but it will be in a lay-by on a quiet lane.
