Fix Your Tec Ltd

General information

Fix Your Tec Ltd is a new company and as such doesn't have a story yet, but the owner and founder of Fix Your Tec does, so here is my story, so you can decide if you want to trust the repair of the device you can't live without to that shop around the corner who does screen repairs, or me, the expert.

I left college with 3 A-Levels in Maths, Physics and Electronic Systems and a BTec in Electronic Engineering, that was back in 1990 just when mobile phones were becoming accessible to the average person. It was still mainly a tool for truck drivers, builders and sales reps back then, proper Car Phone's that were fitted into the car with an areal on the roof or rear window. Alternatively people used big transportable phones that were basically car phones attached to a 12v battery with a shoulder strap. Only the successful, rich and famous had 'Hand Portable' phones, everyone else still had to use phone boxes or if you were flash you had a 'Pager' but still had to find a phone box to answer the page.

I decided it was an up and coming industry and I excelled in RF (Radio Frequency) electronics during college, which is basically what a mobile phone was, a clever walkie talkie as I like to describe it. So I wanted to get involved, I applied for a trainee cellular repair engineer job and never looked back.

Anyway, as we know that was then and in the past 27 years in the mobile phone repair industry I have seen the changes in technology. From Analogue to Digital (early phones didn't have SIM cards), then the first phones to text, first phones with an MP3 player (remember the first Sony Walkman phones), first phones with cameras, flip phones, tiny phones that were too easy to lose, then internet, iPhone's, etc... To the invaluable computer in your pocket that is also a phone we all have now and can't live without.

I have been trained by all of the major manufacturers to component level, some you will know of, some are now long since gone or no longer involved in the mobile phone industry.

Samsung, Sony, Motorola, Nokia, LG, NEC, Panasonic, Sharp, ZTE, Toshiba, Siemens BenQ, Sony Ericsson, Mitsubishi, Sendo, Sagem, Philips, Ericsson, Maxon. Fly, Mio,Oki, Huawei. Additionally Apple, HTC, BlackBerry which I have learned over the past 8 years since they do not train third party repair centres.

You will see I am not running just another company to do screen repairs, although we do that extremely well, we can fix anything you put in front of us. During the past 27 years in senior positions, I was asked to fix other business critical devices, such as laptops, PC's, network issues and then tablets and games consoles are self taught.

I was quite happy working for employers in the industry, but I found myself doing more spreadsheets and emails than fixing things. I have a diverse skill set which makes me very good with all things IT as well as repairing electronic devices. I am a competent IT technician and can also set up and maintain networks, I am a PC gamer so I know my PC hardware too which is why we can do upgrades and provide IT support.

I wanted to offer my expertise to people, I felt my skills were wasted doing spreadsheets and emails and friends and family would constantly ask me to fix things for them, so I saw an opportunity to share my technical ability with people and get them back up and running quickly.
