How the Concept Came to Be

In 2012, my mother was in the fight of her life with stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. She had been fighting for almost 3 years. This business concept came to be because of her. She had gone through 3 setbacks since the beginning of her fight and in the end, she had learned that the cancer had spread to her brain and she had 2 tumors. Upon learning this, the anger and rage of how this disease is destroying her, welled up in me and all I wanted to do was take a sledge hammer to my house, go outside and destroy my car, rip apart my sofas, break all my dishes, etc.

Of course I knew that actions like that would not be possible without severe consequences. I could go to a counselor (and pay the $75 – $150 an hour price tag) or punch my husband’s punching bag, but in my mind I needed to destroy something the way Cancer was destroying my mother. I thought..

“Wouldn’t it be nice if I could just go somewhere and smash something – LEGALLY?”

Hence, in 2012, the idea for The Smash Room was born!
We are still Planning

Plans had to go on hold in 2013. The same month we were set to announce an open date, my mother lost her fight. My head just wasn’t into navigating all the red tape and I put the concept to bed so I could heal. Now I am back and The Smash Room is revived! NOTE: The Smash Room will allow you to blow off steam by breaking things. When breaking stuff, it’s important to stay safe and “smash” responsibly. We put you into a safety suit, protective face mask, hand you a baseball bat and give you one goal—break things to relieve stress or just for giggles. Simple.
