David and Ruth Perl have been together as a couple for over 30 years. A chance passing with a 5 second window of opportunity led to an enduring relationship
As with any long term relationship, we have struggled with our own issues as a couple and have had to navigate some difficult and challenging times. This has provided both of us the gift to heal and grow from our old emotional wounds.

David qualified as a Medical Doctor (GMC number 2941565) in 1984 from St. Thomas’ hospital, London. In 1999 he left medicine to set up docleaf, a leading Crisis Management and Trauma Psychology Consultancy. He has experience as a hypnotherapist and holds a postgraduate diploma in psychotherapy and counselling from the Centre of Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in London.

David has written extensively about limerence, sex and love addiction as well as trauma and PTSD. His interest in romantic infatuation led him to set up www.limerence.net, a support forum to help others impacted by this debilitating condition.

David practices as a Haley Street based psychotherapist (www.therapy-works.london) and also as a leadership coach – www.drdavidperl.com. He is also actively involved in helping men become more emotionally intelligent by working with the ManKind Project.

Ruth initially trained as a nurse where she developed her interest in helping those impacted by loss and bereavement. After leaving nursing, Ruth climbed the corporate ladder before becoming a full time mother, raising two daughters. More latterly, Ruth has qualified as a therapist with a diploma in psychosynthesis counselling and a post graduate diploma in psychology, from the Institute of Psychosynthesis, London.

Ruth has bereavement experience having worked at a hospice as part of their spiritual and psychology care team. She also facilitates woman’s groups for sufferers of domestic abuse and violence and has experience of relationships and working with addictions. She also has a keen interest in meditation and mindfullness having spent 8 years co-facilitating groups.
