What we do in Durham,

'Oxfam Durham' encompasses the Durham Oxfam Boutique, Durham Oxfam Books & Music and the Durham Oxfam Online Shop. We are open 7 days a week from 10am to 5.30pm and 12pm to 4.30pm on Sundays. Our online shop is open 24/7.

The Boutique: One of only 12 Oxfam Boutiques in the country. We sell everyday fashion as well as vintage chic. We stock clothes and accessories for both men and women.

The Bookshop: A one-stop-shop for all your book and music needs. We have 3 floors of goodies comprising fiction, non-fiction and academic textbooks as well as CDs and Vinyl.

Both the Boutique and the Bookshop also stock the Fair-trade Oxfam New Products range and a selection of cards.

The Online Shop: Browse online at www.oxfam.org.uk/shop for that perfect present for a friend or a gift to yourself. We currently stock clothes, jewellery, accessories, tapes, CDs, DVDs, books. We also have a stunning wedding dress collection available online.

To volunteer for any of the shops, just visit us at 12/18 Elvet Bridge, Durham. We are always looking for passionate volunteers to help out in a friendly environment, so whether you need work experience or want to make a difference, volunteering with Oxfam is a rewarding and inspiring experience.

How Oxfam works,

Emergency response: 10 year old Reshma lives in Shahbaz camp with her extended family. They were displaced when floods hit Pakistan in the summer of 2010. Oxfam has been providing water and sanitation facilities for nearly 2,000 families who live in the camp.

Development work: We sent actor Bill Nighy to visit Oxfam's development work in Tanzania, including a jewellery business and a primary school. In both cases, donations to Oxfam are helping people build their own futures.

Fundraising: Fundraising costs are a small but vital part of our expenditure. For every £1 we spend on fundraising, we get a return of £5 to spend on our work around the world. And it's not just about marketing. Fundraising costs let us put on amazing events like Trailwalker UK, which raised £1m in sponsorship money in 2010.

Campaigning for change: Oxfam’s ultimate aim is to end poverty and in just 15 years, extreme poverty has halved. Help us to end it for good.
