I am passionate about making a difference in how construction is delivered.

Smailes Construction and Huxmar are family businesses and are based on strong family values of trust, caring and reliability.Our two westhighland terriers, Huxley and Marley gave us the brand name of our kitchen and summer house business-Huxmar-and led to the #trustthewestie slogan.

I believe that I can improve the culture of the industry and that we can encourage new ways of thinking creatively and practically in order to ensure that the critical aspects of safety, cost, time and quality are accepted as standard, and fundamentally that the entire process exceeds client expectations.

With 31 years experience in the construction industry I have a thorough understanding of the building process and a desire to continually improve and develop this in order to achieve total customer satisfaction.

Having worked at a senior level for a number of large national contractors my desire to challenge and change the perception of construction can finally be harnessed with my own business, and it is this desire, commitment and reputation that will see Smailes Construction Ltd deliver upon its vision to Exceed Expectations.

With a strong reputation throughout the North East I am confident that we can develop an attractive brand that can deliver upon its promise, and through an open and honest approach towards delivery we will ensure an enjoyable journey towards delivering a quality service.
