General information

Opening in 2008, ECDIS Ltd was originally established to offer just one course, the MCA approved IMO 1.27 ECDIS Generic course. The company was founded by a team of navigation specialists who between them navigated and commanded on classes of vessels ranging from small high speed commercial craft to military aircraft carriers.

Shortly after our opening, in 2010 ECDIS Ltd developed the type specific course syllabus with the Nautical Institute. At this stage they began offering these 1 day approved courses on all of the leading ECDIS manufacturers every week, in every continent.

Since opening in 2008 the company has grown significantly, doubling in size every year. It now not only offers over 40 courses but has also developed a separate division that builds simulators, and a division that writes manuals and journals.

In 2011, ECDIS Ltd wrote and produced its first international best seller. In 2012 they received their first major simulation build contract. 2013 saw the beginning of the 3D Environment Artist department and in June of 2014 launched the latest Port Creation service.

The company is now the largest and most recognised provider of STCW navigation training, delivering to over 150 major shipping companies worldwide. Its client base is spread across the entire maritime sector including all commercial, military, government and maritime training schools throughout the world.
