Hi, my name is Alison and welcome to my page ! I have set up Time to Nurture to offer holistic treatments to a wide range of people and to increase awareness of these amazing therapies and how they can enhance your wellbeing.
I am extremely passionate about Reiki and the many benefits it can bring such as deep relaxation, increased wellbeing, re-balancing, de-toxifying and it can also help control cravings. It can also treat specific ailments and during my time as a therapist I have seen great results with many issues such as migraines, back and shoulder problems, anxiety and depression, cancer patients (as it supports and assists conventional treatment methods) and fertility issues.

Modern life is so hectic and demanding for most of us now that so few of us actually take enough time to for ourselves. We are often too busy juggling many aspects of our life : career, families, relationships that our health can suffer but we need to remember that our health is our most important asset and we should look after it ! Time to Nurture is all about giving you back a little much needed 'you time' and making an investment in your health.

I have been doing Reiki for the last few years and am so pleased with the results this has given me personally. I cannot imagine my life without it now ! I have since added more treatments such as Indian Head Massage and Holistic Facials. These can be combined with Reiki for a truly relaxing experience.

During my training, I was so fortunate to have the support of good friends who were open and trusting enough to let me practice on them. The feedback was so positive and encouraging that it gave me increased confidence in what I was doing.

I like to refer to Reiki as my little 'bit of magic'. The best way to introduce someone to it is to let them experience it for themselves.

The word is Japanese and can be split into 2 sections. 'Rei' is defined as Universal Life giving and, like the suns rays, it gives life to living things. 'Ki' is defined as energy and this energy flows through all livings things, including human beings, animals and plants. When this energy flows harmoniously and without interuption we experience what is known as 'wellness' ie. we feel good, happy, balanced and in good health.
If there is too much energy in any part of our body or not enough, the area is out of balance and where there is imbalance, there is the potential for illness. At the very least, if there is no physical symptom, we can just feel generally unwell. Reiki energy flows during a treatment and makes its way to areas of imbalance. It is intuitive and will flow to where it is needed. It works on all levels : physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually so it treats the person as a whole.

As well as our physical body, we have an energy field around us which is often referred to as the aura. This can be seen by the use of Kirlian photography using a special camera. It is really interesting when used to show the effects of Reiki on the aura using before and after pictures. The energy field will appear much stronger and with fewer breaks after a treatment. Although many of us are not aware of the aura, everyone has one and we are constantly reacting to the energy fields of those around us. If you have ever had a negative vibe from someone and not been able to pinpoint why, you are picking this up from the way your energy fields are interacting!

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A REIKI TREATMENT
Before your first treatment, I will ask you to complete a short questionnaire so I am aware of your medical history and can discuss with you what you are hoping to get out of the treatment.
A full session lasts one hour and during which time you will remain fully clothed. I will merely ask you to relax on my therapist couch and close yours eyes while I rest my hands lightly on various parts of the body, centred around the 7 main Chakra's (energy centres). You will become very relaxed during a treatment and may even fall asleep. This is perfectly ok and I always take this as a great compliment ! Another thing that is quite common is a lot of people's tummies start to rumble when I work on that area. This is just a result of the stomach muscles becoming very relaxed and is nothing to be embarrassed about. Everyone's experience of a Reiki session is unique but I always appreciate feedback afterwards. I normally ask the client to drink a lot of water over the following few days to help flush out any toxins the treatment may bring to the surface.

HOW MANY SESSIONS SHOULD I HAVE ?
There is no one right answer for this. Every individual is different and it will vary greatly depending on the person and what is being treated. If you are having Reiki merely for relaxation, you may find a monthly session is nice to keep you feeling on an even keel. A serious ailment may require several sessions close together initially and then gradually the frequency can be reduced to maintenance sessions. You may find one or two treatments is all you need to give you the result you are after.

THE SETTING
I treat you in the sanctuary of my dedicated home salon. It is quiet and without distractions to ensure you get as much benefit from the session as possible. During the treatment, I play relaxing music and have candles lit to get you in state of relaxation. I also use a little aromatherapy in the way of Frankincense oil to calm your breathing. The idea of the hour is to shut out the rest of the world for a while and concentrate just on you.
If you prefer, I can also visit you at your home providing it is quiet and without distractions !
I offer 20% of your first treatment and if you book a block of 6 treatments, the 6th one is half price.
