General information

With its whitewashed exterior and tranquil location on the banks of the Gare Loch, the Ardencaple Hotel is a former early 19th century coaching inn situated between Rhu and Helensburgh. Built in the mid 18th Century this old venue is full of character with nooks and crannies. The front of the building is original and there is an extension to the back.

The Ardencaple Hotel is surrounded by beautiful countryside and scenery. The peaceful waterside village of Rhu boasts a picturesque yacht marina and the neighboring village of Helensburgh is home to the Hill House, a stunning home designed by the famous Scottish architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
The Three Lochs Way, incorporating Loch Lomond, the Gare Loch and Loch Long provide the scenic backdrop to some truly breathtaking scenes.

Just a ten minute drive from the spectacular Loch Lomond and only forty-five minutes from Glasgow City Centre, it is an idyllic hotel location from which to explore the dramatic Dunbartonshire landscape and waterway.

Getting To Us

Glasgow International Airport is 20 miles from The Ardencaple Hotel, just a 35 minute drive along the north bank of the Clyde. Helensburgh railway station is only three miles away too, just a short ride in a taxi. It means wherever in the country you’re coming from, you’ll find the hotel to be the perfect retreat for touring Scotland.
If you’re planning a walking holiday, you’ll find plenty of exhilarating walks that will invigorate your senses here. The Three Lochs Way is a 34-mile tour round the fringes of Scotland’s first National Park, taking in rural landscapes, dramatic mountain crags and glaciated glens. To conquer the whole thing will take you three to four days, though there are plenty of shorter walks for those looking for something more leisurely.

Our Restaurant

The Ardencaple Hotel offers great value pub food, weekly deals & offers and a great selection of drinks served in a friendly, local pub setting.
Join us for a meal and you’ll be greeted with a warm atmosphere, friendly service and an exciting menu packed full of all your pub favourites.
Children are welcome until 8 pm and with our great children's menu we are an ideal place to bring the family.

Our Hotel
Our hotel has 25 bedrooms which are all en-suite and fully equipped to make your stay comfortable and cosy.
We have rooms which are accessible for wheelchair-users. We also have two comfortably sized Family rooms. We are very near Faslane naval base and we are always pleased to welcome sailors and their families from there.
