Haldon Belvedere (Lawrence Castle) is one of the most desirable venues for a Civil Ceremony in England. There are few more idyllic or romantic settings to begin that marriage made in heaven. We have a fabulous reputation for providing the uniqueness of venue coupled with the best of personal

A spiral stone staircase with cantilevered steps, wrought iron balustrade and period mahogany handrail leads you to the main ceremony room, a miniature ballroom on the first floor with views to distract the most attentive of brides. This is truly a magnificent room and, rightly so, the preferred choice for most couples for their marriage ceremony. It is bright and airy with a high ceiling, chandelier, large gothic windows, beautiful baroque plasterwork and the stunning original, solid Indian mahogany panelled flooring is a masterpiece of precision, classical 18th Century carpentry. The acoustics here are comparable with some of the best auditoriums in the country. The Ballroom can accommodate a maximum of 55
people to include Registrars, Photographer, Musicians etc., of which 50 will be seated. If numbers are a problem or if your guest listincludes elderly or disabled who would have difficulty with the spiral staircase, you can utilise the video link between the Ballroom and the ground floor Lawrence Room or there is the alternative option of actually using the Lawrence Room for the ceremony. This room resembles a chapel with its flagstone floor and period doors and windows. Major General Stringer Lawrence’s imposing statue dominates from the centre of this room and the majority of guests would have to stand during the proceedings. The capacity here is about 25 seated plus 40 standing. No more than 65 people are allowed in the building at any one time.

A 99 step ascent to the roof terrace offers 360° panoramic views of the River Exe estuary, the city of Exeter and Dartmoor and provides a stunning backdrop for photographs.
