SOBOTH ist ein Bergdorf auf 1.070m Seehöhe, mit 42 km² Fläche und ca. 350 Einwohnern. Die Gemeinde ist ein grüner Berg und hat sich touristisch als Wanderdorf positioniert. Der Pass Soboth (1347m SH) ist weithin bekannt und der höchste Punkt der B69 im Dreiländereck Steiermark/Kärnten/Slowenien. Mit dem Bau des Speichersees "Stausee Soboth" erhielt das Dorf ein neues touristisches Ausflugsziel.
