1903 wird die SSG Schweizerische Speisewagen-Gesellschaft gegründet, deren Kerngeschäft die Verpflegung von Reisenden im Zug ist. Im Laufe der Jahre betreibt die Firma zusätzlich Schifffahrts- gastronomie, Hotels und Restaurants in Bahnhöfen, Autobahnen, Flughäfen und Einkaufszentren. Die SSG erhält 1999 eine neue und moderne Corporate Identity und wird zur Passaggio Holding umfirmiert. Ende 2000 kauft Autogrill Passaggio und gründet nach der Übernahme die Autogrill Schweiz AG. Autogrill wird zur Dachmarke und Passaggio als Konzeptmarke beibehalten.
