Established in Scandicci - once a small hamlet just outside Florence - since the very start, Il Ponte Pelletteria S.p.A. has distinguished itself for the production of handbags and accessories featuring a highly characterised style. Classic elegance, independent of fashion trends. The value of ‘Made in Italy,’ contained in the typically Florentine workmanship, combines with an essentially ‘English’ design.
From the large artisan workshop in the outskirts of Florence come high-quality products, constructed using the finest materials. This marks the beginning of an Anglo-Tuscan style, which soon becomes an inspiration for many.
During these first years, the undisputed star of all the collections marketed under The Bridge label is only premier, full-grain leather produced using exclusively local hides.
The best hides are strictly vegetable-tanned and processed according to the most rigorous crafting techniques, from the tanning stage to dying and buffing using amber rollers. The result is soft and resilient leather, with a luxurious and sheen finish that, with the passing of time, acquires the worn and unmistakable charm typical of all The Bridge products.

In 1987, the company moves its facilities to the manufacturing district of Scandicci, therefore growing from large artisan shop into a true industrial reality. From this moment on, the business becomes increasingly more significant for the economic fabric of the province and region.
Today, the company continues to produce accessories in leather as well as other materials including canvas, embossed PU and technical fabrics.

Nata a Scandicci, allora piccola frazione alle porte di Firenze, II Ponte Pelletteria S.p.A. si distingue fin dalle sue origini per la produzione di borse e accessori dallo stile fortemente caratterizzato. È un’eleganza classica, fuori dalle mode. Il valore del “Made in Italy”, racchiuso nella tipica lavorazione della bottega fiorentina, si combina con un’estetica decisamente “English style”.
Dal grande laboratorio artigiano alla periferia di Firenze escono prodotti di alta qualità, realizzati con materiali pregiati. Nasce uno stile Anglo-Toscano al quale si ispireranno in molti negli anni successivi.
Nelle collezioni di questi primi anni, commercializzate con il marchio The Bridge, protagonista indiscusso è il cuoio, per il quale si usano pellami di provenienza nazionale, solo pieno fiore.
Il miglior pellame conciato rigorosamente al vegetale è lavorato secondo le più rigorose tecniche artigianali, dalla fase di concia alla tintura e lucidatura con rulli d’ambra. Il risultato è un cuoio morbido ed elastico, dall’aspetto vivo e brillante che con il passare del tempo acquista quel fascino vissuto e inconfondibile, caratteristico di tutti i prodotti The Bridge.

Nel 1987, con il trasferimento negli attuali stabilimenti situati nel distretto produttivo di Scandicci, l’azienda passa da grande laboratorio artigianale a vera e propria realtà industriale. Da questo momento in poi, l’azienda diventa nel corso degli anni sempre più significativa per il tessuto economico della provincia e della regione stessa.
Oggi l’azienda continua la sua produzione oltre di accessori in cuoio, anche di materiali diversi, quali: canvas, “goffrato” (PU) e tessuti tecnici.
