Pirmais „Sportland” veikals tika atvērts Pērnavā, Igaunijā 1997.gadā – (tā platība bija salīdzinoši maza 68 m²), bet „Sportland” kā uzņēmums tika nodibināts 2000.gadā Tallinā, Igaunijā.
2001.gada jūnijā tika atvērti pirmie veikali „Sportland” Latvijā t/p Alfa un t/c Origo.
Sportland veikali ir Rīgā, Liepājā, Jelgavā, Valmierā.
