In 1867 openden Jules Delhaize en Jules Vieujant de eerste winkel in Charleroi. Dat was het begin van een lange loopbaan; in 1914 telde Delhaize al 500 filialen in België. 1957 was een mijlpaal voor Delhaize en vooral voor de voedingsdistributiesector. Dat jaar opende Delhaize de eerste supermarkt in de wereldgeschiedenis die een volledige zelfbediening aanbood. Vandaag zijn er meer dan 800 winkels in het Delhaize-netwerk in België en Luxemburg.
En 1867, Jules Delhaize et Jules Vieujant ouvrent le premier magasin à Charleroi. C’est le début d’une longue carrière ; en 1914, Delhaize compte déjà 500 filiales en Belgique. 1957 marque une étape importante pour Delhaize et surtout pour le secteur de la distribution alimentaire. Cette année-là, Delhaize ouvre le premier supermarché de l’histoire offrant un self-service intégral. Aujourd'hui le réseau Delhaize compte plus de 800 magasins en Belgique et Luxembourg.
