General information

SMP is a rapidly growing specialty chemical and aerosol manufacturer, born out of the renowned Chemrite stable to become independent in 1988. We sought to produce aerosol products to add to its offerings and made a strategic acquisition through the buy-out of an aerosol producer and contract packer, namely Texchem, in 1997. Having successfully produced and supplied an extensive range of industrial, hygiene and cleaning aerosols, SMP’s simultaneous acquisition of the Diversey Lever industrial division, catapulted our presence into the industrial, mining, engineering, transport and hygiene sectors of the SA chemical market.

Our business has flourished and despite a downturn in our economy, SMP continues its rapid growth as we increase our marketshare daily and this comes as a result of a young, vibrant and dedicated team. Our business has been re-branded under the known and respected SMP brand as well as the launch of the new F61 aerosol product brands in the mining, industrial and leisure markets.

Our business functions which include the following production operations on our 4000m² facility, are run in accordance with Alpha accredited ISO9001:2008 management systems and are currently under preparation for ISO14001:2005 certification:

• Aerosol product ranges - Automotive, Motorcycle and Cycle Lubes, Industrial Lubes and Cleaning
• Hygiene Chemicals and Aerosols
• Environmentally Sensitive Chemicals and Enzymes
• Contract Packing for Automotive, Flooring, Industrial, Non-Destructive Testing, Defence and Hygiene Sectors
