K-8 Private Christian School:
At The Talented Tenth Boys Academy Private Christian School, our goal is to enhance boys’ personal growth by offering them an experience so fundamental and positive that it sets them on a course for a lifetime of success. We are excited to provide an academic program that is rigorous and engaging. Our Learning Coaches help students to develop sound work habits while encouraging their individual initiative and expression. The curriculum offer students for advance work in areas where they demonstrate special strengths, as it prepares them for admission to the best High Schools, Colleges and Universities consistent with their interests and abilities.

The purpose of this Private Christian School is to develop in its students, under Christian principles, a high sense of honor and moral integrity, a deep respect for sound scholarship, a full acceptance of responsibility, a love of excellence, and a will toward personal sacrifice in serving others. The abiding concern of The Talented Tenth Boys Academy Private Christian School is the personal growth of its students. To this end, the school attempts to provide a broad experience with balanced emphasis on the academic, artistic, physical, and spiritual development of its students. In keeping with this objective, the faculty is more concerned with teaching students how to think than what to think.

The school seeks to maintain a secure and healthy environment for its students to go about the process of growing and learning, in the hope that every student will come to think of The Talented Tenth Boys Academy Private Christian School as a second home. Next to the quest for peace, our organizations most important goal is the development of a high-quality educational enterprise that will prepare all young men for life in a fast-changing and complex world.

Extended Day Leadership:
Our Extended Day Leadership Academy provides for male youth a safe haven to receive extended academic support, valuable learning techniques and life skills training needed to be successful and confident. The goals of our program are to build strong personal commitments, improve school performance, define natural talents, and foster positive character.
The Talented Tenth provides a structured out of school environment for male youth Monday – Friday until 8pm. Highly skilled staff and trained volunteers provide homework assistance, skill building, recreation, and community service opportunities in a safe, supportive environment. Some of our many activities include: fencing, martial arts, chess, golf, leadership workshops, music/theater and much more. Our focus is to offer fun, constructive activities during the critical after school hours. We use outdoor adventures, social-skills curriculum, service learning projects and team building to strengthen self awareness, leadership and social skills. The Talented Tenth provides a structured out of school environment for male youth grades K – 8th. Male youth in grades 9th and higher may be eligible to participate in leadership opportunities. All participants are provided a healthy evening snack and hot meal (6pm) that follows federal standards for age appropriate nutrition.

The Talented Tenth is located at 1500 Rocky River Road Charlotte NC 28213. We are leasing space from Newell Presbyterian Church which sits on 14 acres of land, which allows us to explore outside areas and be active as needed.

Summer Enrichment:
Summer Camp 2012 will be a summer of growing, learning, and exploring the unknown. Our focus will be: growing up in a world of change and diversity, learning how to challenge one’s self beyond the basics and exploring other places, other people and other things. Everyone will have the opportunity to introduce something new and make a difference in someone else’s life. The Talented Tenth provides a structured out of school environment for male youth grades K – 8th. Male youth in grades 9th and higher may be eligible to participate in leadership roles.
