Thunder Bay's famously innovative Music School! Music Workshop is now in our 16th year of serving our community through music!
A unique philosophy honed by embracing music, teachings and approaches from around the world. Rhythmic foundations, Introduction to Music Making, an emphasis on musical, rhythmic ensemble playing from day one, exciting instruments, watch, listen and learn techniques, creative, fun and musical approaches to turning concepts into original music and so much more!

We have been in business in Thunder Bay continuously for 16 years! (And operated our combination music school and retail store at Archibald, Brodie, Victoria Ave, Waterloo and then Victoria Avenue locations!)
Today in response to the challenges of running a big store with a tiny staff in a fast changing climate we have at long last adopted a gentler business model. Our passion has always been the human side of music making! The software which we humans run internally in order to make music. That is our passion and fascination! Learning how we learn. Learning how you learn! Finding out how you learn best. Then connecting that to the enjoyment that comes from sounding your best!

The school operates by appointment only until 9pm. You can register for lessons at our school, by appointment.

Our school features;

-professional drum sets and cymbals with 2 sets in every drum studio

-Guitars, basses, amps, Korg and Kurzweil high end digital pianos and acoustic pianos.

-Orff Marimbas, percussion, hand-made hand drums including Ghanaian djembes and Ugandan stick drums, hand percussion, other instruments and electronics.

- A comfortable waiting room and an exciting (optional) year-end recital!!

We bring together a fantastic team of qualified, talented teachers who are passionate about teaching and helping you to reach your goals in playing music.

Lessons are offered 6 days per week on all pop instruments.

Numerous teachers for guitar, drum set, piano, bass, voice, songwriting and theory means we can find a great match for your personality, learning style/speed and goals!

Additionally group hand drum classes are offered from October through June;

Past cool camps have included; Improv/Comedy Camps and Beat Camp (combining drumming and computer music skills) and many years of awesome summer youth Rock Camps!

Workshops with visiting presenters have included; harmonica wizard Mike Stevens (Grand Ole Opry), Arabic/West African and Brazillian Drumming Workshops with Humber's Rick Lazar, Indian Drumming with Master Trichy Sankaran (York University), Blues Guitar with Ken Hamm, Ugandan Drum and Dance with Bakka Samuel as well as many other unique and powerful learning events and retreats.

School Director Sean Jesseau is very active bringing team-building celebrations (via group drum circles!) to events, festivals, corporate retreats, training sessions, schools, fundraising events, celebrations and more. Sean provides interactive drumming sessions and interactive musical keynotes with and without instruments. More info and pictures available at our website!
