General information

Evergreen Environmental was founded by Jerry W. McCandless in 1986 as an environmental consulting firm offering technicial assistance and hazardous waste management service to area facilities. Dr. McCandless noticed a niche for companies who could assist small and large facilities in the areas of environmental engineering, regulatory interpretation, remediation, and proper disposal of waste products. As regulations became more stringent, Dr. McCandless became acutely aware of the need for competent, honest consulting engineers who could provide turnkey assistance to any business, industry, or persons requiring Evergreen's services of environmental management and OSHA/EPA compliance.

In the year 2000, Jennifer Lanham, President of Evergreen, purchased stock which made Evergreen Environmental a majority woman-owned and managed business. In 2004, Dr. McCandless and Ms. Lanham partnered together and purchased the assets of American Enviro-Servies (AES). AES became a sister company which has increased the service capablities for both companies to include a four state area.

Our highly experienced professional staff consists of a diverse mix of project managers and technical professionals at locations in Shelbyville, Crestwood, and Nicholasville, Kentucky; Cincinnati, Ohio; Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Newburgh, Indiana. Our staff of personnel and equipment is designed to respond to emergency spill situations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at each location. We will notify the proper authorities and manage the situation giving the client peace of mind in knowing the project will be handled according to local, state, and federal guidelines.

It is Evergreen AES’ policy to make contacts and maintain a rapport with the local, state, and federal agencies regulating the environment. In addition, maintaining a good working relationship with treatment, storage, and disposal facilities makes for expeditious approvals when clients have an emergency. Disposal facilities receiving wastes are audited to ensure compliance with regulations and ensure they are the best waste treatment or disposal alternative available to our clients.

Evergreen AES owns heavy equipment, such as backhoes and vacuum trucks, to assist project managers and other consultants with remediation or industrial cleaning projects. The Corporate Health and Safety Director can provide health and safety compliance audits and training for existing clients as well as for clients in the general construction industry. Evergreen AES has developed a reputation for quality, cost-effective, professional service to a wide variety of transportation, governmental, industrial, and commercial clients.

Evergreen AES provides services involving all phases of hazardous waste pick up, liquid recycling, solid waste disposal, industrial cleaning, environmental assessments, investigation, and remediation services. This experience has allowed us to act as a liaison between clients and local, state, and federal regulatory agencies when dealing with sensitive environmental issues. We recognize that an understanding of our clients’ business plan and associated operations is necessary to effectively respond to their needs. This understanding, coupled with our extensive experience in project management and the environmental consulting field, positions us to better serve our clients.
