THE JACKSON BARRACKS MILITARY MUSEUM Company Information
General information
The Louisiana National Guard Museums are dedicated to educating the public about the history of the Louisiana National Guard and other aspects of Louisiana military history. The larger facility, the Ansel M. Stroud Jr. Military History and Weapons Museum, is located at Jackson Barracks in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. It exhibits the history of the state's militia and National Guard from colonial times through modern day missions. The Louisiana Maneuvers and Military Museum, located at Camp Beauregard in Pineville, also covers Guard history, but focuses more heavily on the contributions of Central Louisiana. The Louisiana Maneuvers during World War II, centered at Camp Beauregard, represented the largest domestic training exercises in the nation's history.
Both museums are inside active military bases. While a photo ID is required for entry, our MPs are always glad to welcome you and give you directions once inside. Admission is free.
