Pelion Mansion, Hatziargiri – Setting the scenery for a dream stay, we welcome you to our family run guest house and traditional Arontiko, in the wonderfully picturesque village of Portaria, Pelion. Located just 2 minutes’ walk from the central square ‘Melina Merkouri’, 13 km from Volos and 12km from ‘Agriolefkes’ ski resort, it’s in an ideal location high up in the Mount Pelion Peninsula which is famous throughout Greece for its outstanding natural beauty; where lush green mountains coexist harmoniously with beautiful crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches creating a paradise.

The impressive design and authentic character of Pelion mansion Hatziargiri is a true reflection of the early to mid-18th century architectural influences. The ‘classical’ period as it’s knows was influenced by Northern Greek design and architecture. Built in 1845, Pelion mansion Hatziargiri is one of the oldest of its kind in the region, with modern facilities discreetly incorporated so as not to take anything away from its authentic character. Following the traditional architecture and external design the roof is covered with locally sourced grey slate to protect it from the varying weather conditions. The external walls have a brightly coloured crest and decorative motifs featured on them.

The interior decor and rooms have been carefully designed and themed in line with the traditional style but with a subtle stylish twist. The six rooms have been named after some of the most famous Greek muses. Each with its own character and offering you a cosy and intimate environment to be enjoyed and stay within.

Walking through the large wooden entrance door, which is surrounded by the thick stone walls you’ll find your way into the reception and breakfast area (ground floor). In the olden days the ground floor was used as a cool storage space with very small windows. The wooden beams in the ceiling, the floor which is made of locally sourced stone and the warmth of the fireplace will make you feel like being at home. In the mornings you can enjoy our freshly prepared homemade breakfast whilst relaxing next to the fireplace. The elegant room of ‘Thalia’ is also situated on the ground floor with its exposed stone wall and magnificent ceiling wooden beams running through it.

The middle floor was used primarily for accommodation during the cold days of winter. During your stay you can sit back and relax in the charming lounge enjoying the warmth of the fireplace whilst playing board games with your friends or family. This beautiful lounge together with the two rooms ‘Clio’ and ‘Polymnia’ on the same floor can be reserved as a suite for exclusive hire. The two rooms are connected through a door, which is locked if the rooms are booked separately.

The top floor was used more in the past during the hot summer days. The impressive lounge features a panelled wooden roof and numerous windows positioned all around with multi-coloured skylights allowing lots of light in. Decorated with hand carved furniture and unique antiques, this spacious lounge and the three rooms of ‘Euterpe’, ‘Erato’ and ‘Ourania’ on this floor can also be reserved as a suite for exclusive hire.

Don’t forget to spend some time in our spacious garden where you can enjoy the view to the village of Makrinitsa, you’ll also find a fresh water fountain. Crafted with love and care in the 18th century, the fountains were known to be a place where relationships were developed and disputes held, and are often connected to great story tales and myths.

Out and about you’ll be able to enjoy breath-taking panoramic views overlooking the Aegean Sea and city of Volos. You can also enjoy historic tours, a scenic and relaxing trip on Pelion’s little train, mountain biking, hiking, horse riding and canoeing to name but a few. If you prefer more of a down-tempo holiday you can kick back and relax at one of the many beautiful beaches. Dotted all around the coastline, choose from; Papa Nero, Agios Ioannis, Plaka, Milopotamos, Agioi Saranta, Kala Nera and Kalifteri beach.
