FAQs

1. Where is your furniture made?
All of our furniture is carefully designed, crafted, assembled, and finished in our factory in Templeton, MA.

2. What type of wood is used to build your furniture?
Appalachian cherry and northern hard maple are our preferred species. We do not use European Baltic beech or any wood from rain forests.

3. What type of finish is used on your furniture?
We use a cabinet grade chemical resistant finish.

4. Where can I see your furniture?
If you need assistance to find a dealer near you, please contact us.

5. Can you make custom-sized tables?
Please contact us to discuss your needs.

6. Do any extension tables have self-store leaves?
Several models do have self-store leaves.

7. Do all of your barstools have swivels?
Yes, all of our barstools have memory swivels. Memory swivels allow the barstool seat to always return to its original position.

8. Can your chairs be made into barstools?
Many of our chair styles can be made as barstools.

9. How do I know what height barstool I need?
As a general rule of thumb, you want to subtract 12 inches from the height of your counter top to determine the barstool height.

10. Rather than using the fabric that you offer on your chairs, can I use my own fabric for the upholstered seats?
Yes, we can apply your fabric.

11. Now that I own some of your furniture, how do I care for it?
We recommend that you keep your furniture clean by using a mild soap and water on a damp, soft cloth. After cleaning, always dry with a clean soft towel. In addition, we recommend that you use hot mats, place mats, and/or tablecloths to avoid scratches, dents, or potential burn marks. Since wood, especially cherry, can darken over time, use discretion when leaving objects on your furniture for extended periods of time. Sunlight can darken the exposed wood, while leaving a lighter area underneath the object covering the wood.

Our History

R.H. LeMieur Corp. began in 1943, specializing in the repair and restoration of early American antique furniture. Richard H. LeMieur, the founder of R.H. LeMieur Corp. in Templeton, MA, worked together with his two employees restoring antiques. A small group of antique dealers would bring in various pieces for repair on a weekly basis. Following World War II, Richard began manufacturing reproductions of antique furniture. The manufacturing process was performed by a small group of local, skilled craftsmen.

Following the passing of Richard in 1969, Robert LeMieur took over as the President of R.H. LeMieur Corp. The business of manufacturing dining room chairs and deacon’s benches remained strong through the 1970’s and the 1980’s until the factory was struck by lightning in the summer of 1988. It took one entire weekend to put the fire out, and the facility was a total loss. Robert, with the help of his son, Richard, built back the business by reconstructing the facility over the course of nine months. With much pride, the R.H. LeMieur Corp. continued with its manufacturing of fine dining room furniture.

During the 1990’s, R.H. LeMieur Corp. began manufacturing dining room tables and cabinets. Today, the line of dining room furniture that R.H. LeMieur Corp. manufactures has grown considerably. Our styles of dining room furniture include: Transitional, Shaker, Traditional, and Country.

The local, skilled craftsmen employed by R.H. LeMieur Corp. take much pride in the fine furniture that they still manufacture today, right here in Templeton, Massachusetts in the USA.

Eco Friendly

Forest stewardship and preservation are values that are so very important to those of us who transform forest products into things of beauty; finely crafted furniture that lasts in our homes for generations. We, rural New Englanders, have a tendency to interact with our precious natural environment. We have always treasured our spectacular fall foliage, small babbling brooks, clear lakes, mountain streams, and snow white winter landscapes. At the R.H. LeMieur Corporation, it is our Environmental Mission to interact with our beautiful surroundings in ways that ensure preservation for generations to come.

The hardwoods that we use are harvested from Sustainable Appalachian Hardwood Forests, and from forests that are managed such that a sustainable timber base is always maintained. Appalachian forests produce the finest cherry wood with the most desirable color and grain quality. Every tree that is harvested is replaced by 2.29 trees so that a sustainable timber base is maintained. The forests of Northern New England are especially healthy and growing in terms of actual standing biomass. This growing capacity allows for absorption of more and more carbon dioxide year after year.

We use world class, state-of-the-art spray guns and pumps which increase efficiency and diminish waste by 25-30%. Our Kremlin brand spray guns and pumps are European designed and manufactured in France.

We use finishing materials that have been approved by the MA Department of Environmental Protection and meet all Federal E.P.A. VOC standards. We believe that these materials provide the best possible finish on our products while meeting both state and federal requirements.

R.H. LeMieur Corporation uses Danish designed and engineered Nord Fab Design exhaust systems for both efficient heating and highly purified air quality for our employees. This system completely changes all the air inside our manufacturing plant every ten minutes allowing us to maintain a healthy, dust-free environment. During the winter months, the air inside our building has to be heated, filtered, purified, and then returned back inside the building. This system allows us to keep our heating energy costs to a minimum.

Our products are carefully packaged in corrugated cartons. We use corrugated cartons that are composed of 40% recycled material. These cartons can later be recycled.

Additionally, we have a modern design, 20 year old, well insulated building for all of our manufacturing needs. We have reduced our energy usage through the use of fluorescent lighting. Most modern factory buildings use 16 to 18 ft. ceiling heights. We designed our building so that the average ceiling height is 9 to 10 ft. high. This reduced inside displacement helps to reduce heating costs and the energy required to maintain clean and comfortable inside air.

All of our wood waste is recycled. Our shavings and sawdust are used to make compost. The compost aids plant growth which increases the absorption of carbon dioxide in the environment. Our solid wood waste is used for heating purposes which results in a reduced need for fossil fuels.

We are serious about creating beautiful furniture for American homes and take pride in our efforts to protect the natural beauty and environment that surrounds these homes.
